Hair Colour Trends for Autumn/Winter 2020

copper hair for autumn winter 2020

Well hello autumn! Time to dust down your warm cosy clothes and get ready for those shorter days and longer dark nights.

If there’s one thing we always notice at this time of year, it’s that black starts to dominate our clients’ wardrobes again and for most of us that will mean the need for hair colour that brightens up the face.

This autumn/winter is likely to be a bit different to any you’ve know before, so we’ve come up with some recommendations that will be on trend, but also practical in the event of more lockdowns.

Rooty Blonde

Whether you like a warm blonde or prefer to wear it cool, a darker root is going to give you a manageable solution this autumn. We recommend a root stretch or balayage with some lighter pieces through the front for an on-trend look that will give you longevity.

Mushroom blonde

A sensible step away from the popular Nordic blonde (which may turn out to be a little too high maintenance for this year). Mushroom blonde uses ashy tones in darker blondes and even very light browns for a multi-tonal look with a hint of gorgeous grey. If it feels a bit dark, your Hair Management colourist can add some lighter pieces to frame the face.

Pastel shades

Vibrant hair colours have had a bit of a moment, but we’re having more requests than ever for pastel shades to add a pretty pop to your blonde hair. Right now, cool pinks or blues are the most popular choices – but be sure to listen to the aftercare advice for results that last.

Cinnamon Spice

It’s all about adding some warm tones to your brown hair for a seasonal pick-me-up. We’re loving adding cinnamons, coppers and caramel balayage pieces to break up your brunette but maintain a gorgeous, sophisticated feel.

Just like brunettes, red hair has taken on a bit of an orangey hue this season. Ask for a shimmering copper to be bang on trend.

Rich reds are always popular for adding some va va voom to dark hair in the autumn/winter. This year, it’s about a red with a more natural feel. Ask about breaking yours up with some brighter pieces for a look that will catch the light.

In a year when health has been front and centre of all of our minds, it’s only natural that has filtered down to the hair. So, the hottest trend for autumn/winter hair is healthy and shiny. To achieve the look, book in for a tidy up haircut to remove any stray ends and then follow your stylist’s aftercare advice. For most people that will be:

  • Use colour safe shampoo and conditioner, ideally with cold water.
  • Avoid washing it too often. Unless you exercise a lot, you shouldn’t need to wash your hair every day.
  • Use a conditioning mask as advised.
  • Reduce your use of direct heat on the hair
  • When you do use your dryer or styling irons, always use a heat protector.

To keep you stocked up on the products you need to nail healthy shiny hair, take advantage of our pick and collect service. Simply call the salon on 01926 426675 to order your products, give us a call when you’re ready to collect them and we’ll deliver them to your car.
